Class of 2008
Nominated by Jim Williams
Love him or hate him, you cannot argue the success of Bill Nyman, one of most successful owners in NBC-DLB history. Always in contention, Bill used his keen baseball intellect and passion for the game to keep his team in the hunt year after year. The results speak for themselves:
1994 NBS World Series Champion
3 time NBC AL Champion (1991, 1994, 1995)
5 time NBC AL runner-up (1996, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2004)
A winning percentage over .625 from 1989 to 2005
Bill served as unoffical league historian for several years. As an original league member, Bill was instrumental in moving the Cubs to the AL half of the league, where he could make use of the DH. Bill also was a leader in the creation of the league rule book and the method of making instruction sheets for NBC use. He was never shy about voicing his opinions, sometime to his detriment. At the end of the day, Bill's passion for his Cubs, the league, and the game of baseball will always be remembered.
Bill is the second from the left. This was at the 2003 draft weekend.
