2007 NBC All-Star Game

Beautiful night in Kansas City, as the AL takes the field with Jason Schmidt on the mound. Immediately Jose Reyes singles, but is caught stealing on a great toss by LoDuca. Utley also singles, but Guerrero grounds into a double play to end the inning. Johan Santana comes out for the NL, and Ichiro greets him with a single, and Furcal doubles to center, and Suzuki beats the throw from Torii Hunter to give the AL a 1-0 lead. Bonds walks, and Santana looks to be in trouble, but he retires the next 3 guys in order. Teixiera singles to open the NL 2nd, followed by a Pujols strikeout. Crawford then singles to give the NL runners at 1st and 2nd, and Scott Rolen follows with a 2-run double. Ivan Rodriguez then singles, and Rolen comes into score on an error by Ichiro. Schmidt gets out of the inning with no more damage. Santana mows down the AL in the 2nd, 3-1 NL after 2 complete. Tom Glavine relieves for the AL, and is hit hard, surrendering RBI 2Bs by both Teixiera and Pujols, who started at DH for the NL. Jake Peavy enters for the NL, allows a harmless single, and it's 5-1 NL after 3. Justin Verlander enters for the AL, and allows a Hunter single, then walks Reyes and Utley to load the bases. Guerrero hits a fly ball to Ichiro in center, and Hunter beats the throw to the plate for another NL run. Roy Halladay enters for the NL and gives up only a single to Garciaparra, and that's it. 6-1 NL after 4. Brandon Webb comes on for the AL, and allows 2 singles and 2 walks, the 2nd to Jose Reyes to force in another NL run. Randy Johnson shows off some dominant stuff, striking out 2 in his inning of work. 7-1 lead for the NL after the 5th. The 6th is worked by 2 closers, Putz for the AL and Hoffman for the NL, and both get through unscathed. Chris Young comes in for the AL and gets into some trouble, allowing a single and hitting Joe Mauer with a pitch, but Huston Street comes on to strike out Tejada to end the 7th. Dontrelle Willis and Takashi Saito combine to work a 1-2-3 7th for the NL, still with a 7-1 lead. B.J. Ryan allows only a Jermaine Dye single in the 8th, and Billy Wagner allows only a Manny Ramirez single in the 8th. To the 9th we go, NL leading comfortably 7-1. Joe Nathan enters to pitch the 9th and allows only a walk to Jason Bay. Last chance for the AL, facing Francisco Rodriguez, who gets Berkman for out number 1. Travis Hafner enters and smokes a double down the RF line, and Robinson Cano follows suit, driving in Hafner. Ramon Hernandez grounds out to put the NL one out away, but F-Rod loses his control, walking Beltran, Jeter, and Ramirez in a row to force in the 3rd AL run, and bring the tying run to the plate in the form of Ryan Howard. With Rodriguez fatigued, the NL turns to their last pitcher, Josh Johnson, to close out the AL hopes. Howard puts a charge into Johnson's pitch launching a Deep Drive to LF, but it doesn't have the distance, as Bay squeezes it for the final out and a 7-3 NL victory. Mark Teixiera is named MVP, going 2-4 with 2 runs and an RBI.
