OAKLAND, CA - Greetings from the hellhole, I mean...home of the Oakland Athletics. The Sabal brothers are your hosts for the All-Star festivities even though this weekend would've been better in AZ rather than Oakland or if my brother had his way, Tokyo. Tonight's NBC Futures game features the best of the talent acquired from the recent draft. Tonight's starting pitchers feature for the American League, the Detroit Tigers Casey Mize while the National League will start from the Miami Marlins, Sixto Sanchez.

Both starting pitchers would hold their opposing teams to one hit for the first 3 innings before yielding to their pitching staff mates. The first serious scoring chance occurred in the top of the 6th inning. The American League went with the New York Yankees Deivi Garcia to start the inning and with one out, Cincinnati's Jose Garcia reached on an infield single. The Cubs Zach McKinstry flew out to right to make it two outs but then Miami's William Contreras singled to right to move Jose Garcia to third with two outs. Phillies phenom 3B Alec Bohm then doubled down the first-base line which scored Garcia but Contreras, trying to score from first, was cut down at the plate to end the scoring threat and the top of the 6th inning. Regardless, the National League Futures took a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the NL Futures going into the 8th inning when the NL Futures started the inning with Chicago Cubs pitcher Miguel Yajure. In a possible Windy City World Series matchup, the Southside rival Chicago White Sox CF Luis Robert led off the bottom of the 8th by taking Yajure deep and gone into the left-field seats with a dramatic first-pitch home run to tie the game at 1-1. At this point, the game would be dominated by great pitching (or poor hitting...however you look at it).

In the bottom of the 13th inning, the NL would go with San Francisco Giants P Luis Patino and he was promptly greeted by the soon-to-be Futures Game MVP, Luis Robert as Robert lined a leadoff single. Robert then followed up the hit by stealing 2nd base and set the stage for the Baltimore Orioles Chadwick Tromp. Tromp doubled into the right-center field gap and plated Roberts easily with the game-winning run as the AL Futures won 2 to 1 in 13 innings.

The AL Futures held the NL Futures to 1 hit after allowing them to score in the 6th inning thanks to the combined effort of five pitchers to finish the game. The AL Futures also struck out a combined 18 hitters for the entire game.
