2022 All Star Game
Hosted by the Kansas City Royals
Time for the main event... the 2024 NBC -Dynasty All Star Game.
I am sending this in the same format as the Futures Game. Please let me know if you do not see or receive the attachments as I am wondering if some folks servers are blocking them (seems a few people did not receive my attachments or their firewalls sent my email to the trash as spam).
At any rate, I have included a .pdf file for the game itself, .pdf game stats summaries, and if you cannot follow along with my homemade game-sheets, I have also included a player-by-player recap of every dice roll and result... A few key details and highlights will be included here below, but I won't retype all of the recap details in this email.
So, to the result. Both teams were stacked on Offense and Defense, so I had no idea what to expect. I kind of felt the AL had the advantage, but here is how it all went down. While NL second baseman Luis Arraez did manage a 1st inning single off of starter Paul Skenes, he was quickly erased by Logan O'Hoppe as he attempted to steal 2nd base. Nothing else materialized over the first two innings for either side. In the third inning with Bryan Woo now on the mound for the AL, Cal Raleigh led off with a single Eugenio Suarez is called out on strikes and Willy Adames hits a loud and long deep drive down the left field line that gets the fans to their feet. All for not though as Anthony Santander makes the catch. With two out now, and with the fans still buzzing over the Adames near miss, Jarren Duran steps in and hits a no-doubter over the CF wall... The NL takes the early lead 2-0.
Bottom of the third. Not to be outdone the AL gets a leadoff walk and stolen base by Jackson Merrill followed later by a run scoring O'Hoppe single and Shohei Ohtani RBI double. Heading to the 4th the score is knotted at 2.
The fourth inning was the key to the game. In the top half, the NL quickly gets to two down with both Rooker and Ozuna striking out. Homerun derby king Yordan Alvarez proceeds to double, and then three consecutive PH'ers (Yandy Diaz, Yanier Diaz, and Tyler O'Neill) all manage hits. Yandy's single scored Alvarez giving the NL the lead. Yanier's single moves Yandy to second and sets the table for Tyler O'Neill. O'Neill doubles bringing in Yandy and moving Yanier to 3rd, and then Willy Adames hits another ball hard, doubling and scoring both Yanier and O'Neill. By the middle of the 4th, the score was now 6-2.
The AL did mount a response in the bottom of the fourth loading the bases with none out but managed to score just one run on a Juan Soto single. It was 6-3 heading to the 5th.
There was no more scoring until the bottom of the 7th. The NL loaded the bases on a Ozuna base-on-balls, and Alvarez infield single and a Justin Turner walk, in the top of the inning, but Blake Snell managed to get out of the Inning unscathed. In the Bottom half the AL drew closer when, with one gone, hometown hero Bobby Witt doubled, and Jose Ramirez singled to score him. They couldn't muster any other hits though, and the inning was over. End of 7th, the score is now 6-4 for the National League stars. The bullpens dominated from there and there was no additional scoring. The NL ends up winning the game 6-4!
The AL Pitchers allowed 6 runs on 12 hits with 2 walks and 14 K's, while NL Pitchers allowed 4 runs on 8 hits with 2 walks and 9 K's. Mason Miller was dominant for the AL striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced, and the NL 'closer' Raisel Iglesias was equally imposing striking out 2 of the 3 he faced.
Of note offensively, Yordan Alvarez was the only player to get two hits. Yandy Diaz and Tyler O'Neill both had very timely two-out pinch-hit singles in the important 4th Inning, but it was Willy Adames who took home the MVP honours hitting the critical two-out, 2 RBI double that turned out to be the game winning runs.
Congratulations to all of the Players! It was a great game, and it was a ton of fun to play!!!
